Antigua and Barbuda Falcons are Caribbean Premier League champions for the first time after completing an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Jamaica Kingsmen in the 2026 final at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.

A final containing one of the tournament's most remarkable individual innings ultimately belonged to Antigua, whose balanced bowling attack and composed chase proved decisive.

Jamaica posted 170 from their 20 overs, with Pakistan batter Maaz Sadaqat producing a spectacular 114 from just 58 deliveries. But Antigua spinner Sufyan Moqim took 4 for 14, preventing Jamaica from converting Sadaqat's century into a considerably larger total.

The Falcons then made the target look far less demanding than Jamaica might have hoped.

They reached 173 for 2 in 16.4 overs, completing the chase with 20 balls remaining and triggering celebrations for a franchise lifting the CPL trophy for the first time.

Amir Jangoo finished unbeaten on 57 from 34 balls, while Hasan Nawaz contributed an unbeaten 47 from 35. Evin Lewis had earlier given the chase momentum with 38 from 26 deliveries.

Sadaqat Century Meets Moqim Masterclass

The final could easily have become the story of Sadaqat.

His 114 included eight fours and nine sixes and came at a strike rate approaching 200. The innings was particularly valuable because Jamaica received relatively little support from the rest of their batting order.

Saim Ayub's 29 was the next-highest contribution.

That imbalance allowed Antigua to remain in control despite Sadaqat's assault.

Moqim produced the defining bowling performance. His four overs cost only 14 runs and delivered four wickets, while Alzarri Joseph took two wickets for 27.

The contrast was striking: Jamaica had a batter making 114 in a T20 final yet finished on only 170.

Once Sadaqat was removed, Antigua had prevented the innings from developing the explosive finish that could have pushed the target towards or beyond 200.

The Falcons' response then demonstrated why that mattered.

Lewis attacked early enough to keep the required rate under control. Jangoo took responsibility for anchoring and accelerating the chase, while Nawaz ensured there was no late collapse.

Jamaica managed only two wickets. Ayub and Vitel Lawes claimed one apiece, but Antigua never allowed the required rate to create serious pressure.

By the end, the final had moved decisively away from Jamaica.

First Championship Caps a Historic CPL Season

The victory carries additional significance for Antigua and Barbuda because it is the franchise's maiden CPL title.

The Falcons entered the league as a new franchise in 2024 following the departure of the Jamaica Tallawahs from that season's competition. Their rise to champions has therefore come relatively quickly.

The 2026 tournament itself represented another period of change for the CPL.

This was the competition's 14th season, running from 7 August through 20 September, and it expanded to seven teams for the first time. Thirty-nine T20 matches were scheduled across the tournament, with Kensington Oval hosting the final.

Jamaica also returned to the CPL landscape through the Kingsmen, making Sunday's final unusual even before the first ball was delivered.

Neither finalist had previously won the competition under its current franchise identity. ESPN's pre-match analysis noted that it was only the third CPL final without either Guyana Amazon Warriors or Trinbago Knight Riders involved.

Trinbago entered 2026 as defending champions but endured a dramatically different campaign, finishing at the bottom of the table.

That opened the door to a final that guaranteed a new champion.

Antigua ultimately took the opportunity.

De Kock Leads Run Charts as Four Bowlers Finish on 16 Wickets

The final also closed a season featuring several standout individual performances.

Quinton de Kock finished as the tournament's leading run-scorer with 392 runs from 11 innings, averaging 43.56 with a strike rate of 143.07.

Shimron Hetmyer followed with 367 runs, while Sadaqat's extraordinary final lifted him to 363 runs from only seven innings. Shai Hope accumulated 332 and Colin Munro 320.

The bowling race was even tighter.

Four players finished with 16 wickets: Imran Tahir, Hunain Shah, Alzarri Joseph and Matthew Forde. Tahir was listed first among the leading wicket-takers, while Antigua's Joseph finished the tournament with the best bowling average of those four at 17.88. Roston Chase followed with 15 wickets.

The season also produced a major batting record when Sri Lanka's Dasun Shanaka recorded the fastest century in CPL history earlier in the competition.

But the final piece of the 2026 season belongs to Antigua and Barbuda.

Jamaica had the final's only centurion. Antigua had the more complete performance.

Moqim's four wickets limited the damage caused by Sadaqat, and the Falcons' top order then ensured that 170 was never enough.

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons leave Barbados as 2026 CPL champions — the first Caribbean Premier League title in the franchise's history.
